BMLmusic.com v3.0 |
|
|
|
Monday, 31 December 2007 20:01 |
Happy New Year! The site has been overhauled with a Web2.0 interface. The goal is to provide a home for all of my projects rather than have them spread across myspace, facebook, and various band sites. Here you will find consistently updated news, performance calendar, music player, and tons of free downloads.
The rebuilt site is now running on Joomla!: Joomla! is a free open source framework and content publishing system designed for quickly creating highly interactive multi-language Web sites, online communities, media portals, blogs and eCommerce applications.
This is exciting because flash components are able to merge into a fully database driven site. The overall design is easily manipulated through cascading style sheets and PHP/HTML. Web 2.0 - Content is king! |

The new album progresses nicely and should be complete in the next two months. It always feels so good to have a collection of songs in a tangible disk form. The new work is very schizophrenic, utopian vs. dystopian, but still the same funkfoltronica you have grown to love. Except now there is a bit of industrial in the mix too. Would that make it industriofunkfoltronica? Hmm... I have discovered a new favorite site, Garageband.com. It is the first time I have felt excited about an online community. It is like one giant worldwide songwriter's workshop. I absolutely love it. You can check out my page here to read what people are saying about my music and also to find out more about a cool site. It is one of the first sites I have seen really take advantage of - the ease with which music can be recorded and shared these days,
- an interactive rating system that actually works,
- and a strong site to build an active online community.
New works in progress up soon. Here is one last shot of the mountain: |

Computer Crashes |

I've got to stop writing these things so late at night. I've cleaned up the site a wee bit and posted a few more works in progress. The next album is coming along nicely, now that the studio is set up. I've posted some pix of what we are tentatively calling Two Towers Studio: Between computer crashes, new acquisitions, and audio device failure (due to operator error), I have spent more time off line than on lately. However, the gig rig is operational and I am looking forward to playing out with some frequency. |

I've moved, both in cyberspace and geography. I'm now in Santa Barbara, California, building the production studio for the Foundation for Conscious Evolution. I get my own G5, so now I can take over the world, mwa haha! I have been writing some new tunes, some of which are up on the downloads page, and have been playing music with brother Eli and uncle Marshall. It is good to be practicing again. We have a gig this Sunday at one of the bigger clubs in town playing originals and a Frank Zappa cover. All my portable contact info is the same, so stay in touch! |

It is the close of a difficult summer; a summer of mixed reviews. On the positive side, I had a great time playing a weekly dance class at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. While there I sold out the first run of Just Be. Woo Hoo! The new BML Store is up and running. I will be updating the products constantly, but for now there are shirts, lunchboxes, posters, etc. Pick up your BML gear today and preach to the unconverted masses! The downloads page is now updated with new works in progress, old multimedia projects, fan art, and miscellaneous pictures. Submissions are welcome. You too can get your work immortalized on a t-shirt, wall clock, or fine pair of boxers. |

February brings exciting news. One of my songs, "Threshold of a Dream," has been selected as a Runner-Up in the Electronic category of the 2002 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Well, the version 1 of the site is up and running. Still a bit of work left to do, so please ignore the exposed drywall and empty fixtures. Celebrate the sale of the first 100 copies of Sundog. Yeah! The next batch is printing and will be available as this site goes live. Work has commenced on the next album, this one under the working title The Unemployment Symphony. The songs on The Unemployment Symphony will be a diversion from Sundog, much more electronic than folk, yet equally as fun, groovable, and delicious. A taste of things to come can be found on the works in progress page. |
